Dr. Scott Terry, Ed.D.,
LMFT (IA and IL), MFT (NE), LMHC (IA), LCPC (IL), IMHP (NE), Ch.T.

Fairfield Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska Marriage and Family Therapist

Hi, my name is Scott Terry. I have a doctorate so you can call me Dr Terry if you want, but most people just call me Scott. That is part of my whole approach to therapy. I believe in making this whole process less formal, less intrusive on your life, and making it customizable to be supportive of your needs so that it is far more impactful and meaningful to you than traditional therapy. I do this so we can communicate in a direct, honest and natural way, so that “real” change can fully happen for you.

Dr Scott Terry is the Executive & Clinical Director of Ardent Counseling Center. To schedule an appointment call (888) 870-1775.

I am the Executive and Clinical Director of the Ardent Counseling Center. I am also the founder of the Fairfield Mental Health Alliance and the Mental Health Matters radio talk show. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and licensed clinical professional counselor, as well as a hypnotherapist, educator, business consultant, and artist. I have been practicing since 2000. I have had vast experience with a wide range of individual, couple and family concerns. I have also provided counseling services to businesses. I have been on the board of three mental health organizations and have been a professor at the Adler School of Professional Psychology, the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and other university settings.

My personal educational background includes two masters, a doctorate (and most of my second doctorate and post-doctorate work on a second doctorate) in a variety of overlapping disciplines - from counseling and marriage and family therapy to psychology, educational psychology, education, special education and interdisciplinary arts. I bring all of this knowledge and education to the field of therapy, as well as my extensive business background – which has made a meaningful difference in the corporate and small and medium-size business realms.

I come from a business and arts background. In the past, I also helped start companies (creating new divisions, company expansions, and re-organizations) and made a video and photographic documentaries for seniors. I was always interested in paradigm shifts and in how individuals perceived things and how these perceptions could change and make a difference in the growth of the company or individual.

My background also includes supervising and training many psychotherapists, from various different disciplines, through the Ardent Counseling Center (which I direct), as well as through my own private practice, and in university settings. I have published and presented to numerous distinctive audiences.

I have been the director, founder and clinical supervisor of the Ardent Counseling Center since 2009. I have trained, supervised and taught dozens of successful therapists of all disciplines who have gone on to do profound work in their respective fields.

I have consulted on cases with counselors, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, social workers, certified drug and alcohol clinicians and psychiatrists, as well as with medical professionals of all stripes.

Although my background might be deep to some, maybe even impressive – the real question is not who am I, but who would you like to create yourself to be now? And, how can someone like me help you manifest the world you want now - for yourself and for your loved ones?

I look forward to creating something amazing with you.

I am available for appointments at the Fairfield Iowa office and for couples retreats and for concierge counseling services via phone and video. I am also available for tele-health online / phone / video sessions for Illinois and Nebraska clients.

Make an appointment today by calling us at (888) 870-1775 or by filling out our Contact Form.
