Prioritizing the Human Connection in Therapy

In my view, the foundation of effective therapy lies in the genuine bond formed between therapist and client. Even if a therapist is well-versed in various psychotherapeutic approaches, without establishing an authentic connection, the therapeutic process falls short.

While problem-solving and finding solutions are crucial, I also emphasize the importance of assisting clients in accessing joy and defining their aspirations. Encouraging clients to embrace moments of joy while addressing their challenges equips them with the resilience to navigate adversity. Both in my personal life and in therapy, I believe that envisioning a clear picture of where you want to be and working on the obstacles blocking you fosters a personalized path to success.

Unresolved childhood trauma often manifests as obstacles in adulthood. Deep-seated beliefs instilled during earlier years can perpetuate patterns that keep us stuck. Collaborating with a trusted therapist can illuminate these obstacles, paving the way for personal growth and possibility.

Through my own experiences, I’ve come to appreciate the complexity of trauma and the need for innovative healing approaches. Employing modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) provides clients with tools to identify their values and cultivate self-compassion in the face of trauma.

I also have a niche for supporting women through issues related to pregnancy, abortion, perinatal loss, Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs), and birth trauma. Drawing from my experience as both a mother and a certified full-spectrum doula, I recognize the profound importance to help mothers give birth to their new identities and ease the transition into motherhood.

I believe that each individual possesses the resources to overcome their challenges, but external circumstances can obscure this inner wisdom. As a therapist, I aim to help clients hear and understand their own internal processing center. Therapeutic work is often challenging, but I believe in celebrating victories and incorporating creative approaches. I enjoy thinking innovatively and integrating expressive modalities such as art, journaling, or somatic exercises to deepen the takeaways clients get from therapy.

I feel privileged to support clients as they tap into their potential. I don’t shy away from acknowledging the complexities of life, but I am deeply committed to my clients’ well-being and their path to healing.
